The following is an update on Vettefest 2014 which will take place in PEI on Saturday and Sunday August 16th and 17th. The first day is the Island Tour and the second is the Show Day. Most of the weekend details have now been settled.

Saturday August 16th

The Island Tour will start at 10 AM at the parking lot adjacent to Gateway Village on the PEI side of the Confederation Bridge . This is the same meeting place as in past years. We will spend the day touring rural and small-community PEI . This year will see us focusing on parts of Eastern PEI which we have not done for some years now.

We will be stopping at noon at the Sheltered Harbour Restaurant in the Town of Souris. After lunch we will continue the tour. For those who want to take part we have arranged to stop at the PEI Potato Distillery. The cost of the tour is $10 which includes a sample of the product. The tour should end around 3 PM and our Club members will be available to help to get everyone to their hotels/motels to freshen up before the evening activities..

The free BBQ will be held beginning at 6PM. The location is the Winsloe Lions Hall which is the same as last year. If (perish the thought) there is rain the hall will easily accommodate the group. The Hall is located just off the Highway 2 near the Charlottetown north boundary. There will be a Chinese auction after the BBQ. As in the past we would welcome any auction items from participants.

Sunday August 17th

On Sunday the Show will be held at Action Car and Truck Accessories. This is the same site as in 2013 and is located at the corner of the TCH (also known as Capital Drive) and the Lower Malpeque Road/North River Road . Registration is from 9 AM to Noon and the show will run from Noon until 2:30 PM. The Genie lift will be there again this year for those who want to take relatively high level pictures of the cars at the show. There will be an after-show banquet as in past years. We have not picked the restaurant yet but it will be close to the route back to the Confederation Bridge .

This is in the heart of the high tourism season in PEI and we suggest that, if you have not already booked your accommodations, you do it soon.

We are looking forward to hosting Vettefest 2014 and hope to have a great turnout for both the Saturday and Sunday activities.
