GREATER MONCTON CORVETTE CLUB
MONTHLY MEETING, JUNE 5, 2023
LOUNSBURY AUTOMOTIVE BOARDROOM
Attendees:  Marc & Sandra Melanson; Ray Cormier & Darlene Estabrooks; Roger & Angela Bourgeois, Don MacAulay & Debbie MacPherson; Dave Fyffe; Tom & Teri Osler; Kim & Dave MacPherson; Scott Mullin;  Trueman Copp & Margaret Mayes.

Before Marc called the meeting to order, Angela introduced two of our charity representatives:  Catherine, Director, and Caroline, a Board Member, from the Autism Resource Centre, Southeastern NB region.  Marc presented them with a cheque in the amount of $160.00 from the Canadian Council of Corvette Clubs, Eastern Region; and a cheque in the amount of $1800.00 from Doug & Wendy MacDonald, which represented a "match" of the money collected during the Radical Speed Sport show.    The charity was very pleased, to say the least, and Catherine explained where the money would be used this summer.  Most will be used to set up their annual summer camps for children and teens with Autism.  The camp has not taken place during the last few years, due to Covid, therefore it will be extra special for the participants this year.
Marc called the meeting to order at 7:20 p.m.
There were no errors or omissions on the minutes taken for May.  A motion to accept these minutes was made by Tom, seconded by Ray, all were in favor of accepting minutes as posted.
Tom presented the treasurers report:  membership payments received in the amount of $58.83; 50/50 winnings of $13.00; Sponsorship cheques totaling $650.00; and prize money from Speed Sport of $200.00.   Expenses include cheque for Harvest Fest of $200.00;  Go Daddy website paid by Rick for $1,063.05; Speed Sport display costs $750.00; Camp Triumph donation of $1553.00; bank charges of $10.21.  Our bank balance for May 31st is xxx.xx.
Bills for payment in the amount of $2,294.25 for the Corvette calendars.  We will be selling these for $20 and can order more if necessary.   Ray Cormier purchased the very first one.  Thank you Ray.
Past Events;
May 27: Our first run was a leisurely drive with 12 vettes, through Dover, Memramcook, with a return home stop in Fox Creek for some delicious ice cream.
May 28:  Our show and breakfast was a little bit of a disappointment with only 6 vettes showing off their cars.  The weather was cool, but perfect for this event, so perhaps we can plan another try later in the fall.
May 28:  Canadian Tire Dieppe show was well attended for their first.  A couple of our members went to see what it was all about, but no vettes were entered in the show.  This will be a weekly show, so perhaps vettes will participate going forward.
June 1-4: Bar Harbor weekend.  An excellent event as usual with 15 vettes from the GMCC club.  Attendance was noticeably down, but we believe the cold, wet weather forecast was the factor.  Thursday & Friday was above normal, but it turned to very cool, drizzle weather on Sat & Sunday.  The banquet was held on Friday this year and everyone went home with a plaque with a special trophy going to Tammy & Martin Boudreau for their gorgeous C7 yellow Z06.  This vette was chosen from the many to be the Hotel Manager's choice.  A great honor.  GMCC won a plaque for most participants at the show, but prior discussion with the group resulted in a decision for Roger to honor the Nova Scotia club with this plaque, since they would have won had it not been that members were forced to stay home due to wild fires.   Everyone during the weekend had the NS members on their minds and praying for rain (something our club never does).  The show on Saturday was held in the Wonderview parking lot with many gorgeous door prizes given out.    Sunday saw everyone head home on their own, with a few continuing to Old Orchard Beach for the week.
Upcoming events;
June 10: Lounsbury Automotive Corvette Show from 9:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.   Volunteers to help with registration and parking should arrive by 8:00 a.m.   Also, please remember to stick around for taking down banners and putting things away.  Much appreciated.
Jun 17: Event cancelled because the museum in Amherst had a break in.
June 23:  Sackville cruise in.  Info will be posted on our Facebook and an email will be sent with details.
June 24 & 25:  Overnight trip to PEI.  Email has been sent (in May) with details.  Departure from Irving, Dieppe Blvd, at 7:30 a.m. in order to make the ferry for Wood Island.  Don is looking into a visit to Camp Triumph while we are on the Island.
The Acadia Region Corvette Club have invited us to their annual Corvette Autumn Corvette show in Ellsworth Maine during the weekend of Sept 15/16, 2023.  You can find registration and details on their webpage.  Looks like a well planned out weekend.
Roger advises that some old friends from Nfld will be settling close to Moncton in the near future.  Glen & Michelle Best have decided to make NB their home.  We welcome them with open arms, and know they will be an asset to our club.
Trueman gave a short update on Doug MacDonald's health as many people are inquiring, and its always important to keep in touch.  He advises that Gloria and Wendy are managing under these difficult times.
The meeting was adjourned by Angela, with Kim Macpherson winning the 50/50 in the amount of $18.
